Melanie completed her Bachelor and Master studies in Interdisciplinary Sciences at ETH (Zurich, CH) during which she focused on the interplay between chemistry and biology. After an exchange semester at UC Berkeley (USA) in the group of Prof. Matthew B. Francis and a Masters Thesis in the total synthesis group of Prof. Karl-Heinz Altmann she joined Hoffmann La Roche (Basel, CH) for an internship in Process Chemistry. To deepen her chemistry knowledge and work on translational projects Melanie joined the group of Prof. Jason P. Holland for her doctoral studies in 2018. She worked on the development of new strategies to treat and radio image prostate cancer. After defending her thesis in 2022 Melanie joined the team of Prof. Ariel Furst as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Her work focuses on improved bladder cancer treatment as well as bio-remediation of environmental pollutants. Outside of the lab Melanie enjoys doing sports, hosting dinners and loves to explore and meet the worlds flavors, cultures and people.
